About us
Training and research in the field
of eating disorders.
The Academy of Nutrition Sciences was established in 2018 by the Gruber Foundation Non-Profit to provide training, research and dissemination in the field of eating disorders (ED). Thanks to the experience gained over the years at the Foundation’s healthcare facilities, the Academy offers training courses that integrate research and clinical practice.

In collaboration with the University of Bologna, ASNU offers university courses aimed at healthcare professionals from a multidisciplinary perspective. In addition, the Academy designs and implements Continuing Education courses for CPD and exploration of new or critical issues.
In collaboration with the University of Bologna and the Sapienza University of Rome, ASNU coordinates, integrates and promotes research projects focused on the care pathways within the Gruber Foundation health facilities, fostering a productive synergy between clinical experience and innovation in care models.

The main dissemination initiatives include the International Conference on Eating Disorders and seminar meetings aimed at professionals from the Mental Health services that collaborate with the Gruber Foundation.
Our mission
Ongoing integration of training and clinical practice
Through differentiated specialised courses, which allow comparison of various treatment experiences, ASNU trains ED professionals as part of a network. The Academy also develops research projects, collaborations and dissemination with the aim of improving the quality of care in the field of eating disorders and innovating its model of care.
Our training approach
Continuous professional development, specialisation and multidisciplinarity.
The learning paths implemented by ASNU include lectures, workshops and internships at dedicated facilities, in collaboration with national and international institutions. Opportunities for in-depth exploration of complex issues are guaranteed through constant reference to clinical practice and research, and seminars and conferences that encourage exchange and discussion among network professionals.

ASNU provides Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and specialisation in ED-specific topics, supported by a multi-professional and multidisciplinary approach led by diverse professional figures.
Group work on case studies under the guidance of experienced professionals allows the application of theory to real-world scenarios and the development of possible solutions. Learning methods also focus on Peer Learning Education to encourage peer-to-peer discussion and ensure more effective learning.

Finally, the Academy proposes an Evidence-Based Approach that thoroughly examines evidence from national and international scientific literature and provides guidance and tools to support evidence-based clinical and care practice.
